Synopsis: Chong-Fu is a two-player game, played with a standard pack of 52 cards. The game objective is to have no cards left in your hand at the end of a turn.
Game History: Chong-Fu was created by Ben Wilson and Roger Nesbitt in September 2003.
Game Play:
- One player is selected to be the dealer.
- The dealer deals ten cards to their opponent and themselves, face down. The remaining cards are placed in between the players. This is known as the pick up pile.
- The players pick up their cards so that they can see them. The dealer's opponent has the first turn.
- The player whose turn it is places any card from their hand, face up, in front of them.
- The other player responds:
- If the other player has a card that matches the suit of the played card, they must play one of those cards by placing it face up. The player that placed the highest card wins the round. Ace is high in Chong-Fu. The winner gets to discard any card from their hand onto the discard pile, face down. The loser must pick up the two played cards and add them to their hand.
- If the other player does not have a card that matches the suit of the played card, they must pick up the card and add it to their hand, and also pick up a card from the pick up pile and add that to their hand. They must also show the original player one card from their hand. No card is discarded by the original player.
- The other player may play multiple cards at the same time if they have a card that matches the suit of the played card. All cards played by the other player must have the same face value. Immediately after the cards are played, the cards that do not match the suit of the originally played card are moved to the discard pile.
- Play returns to step 4 with the turn alternating between the players, until a player has no cards left in their hand. When a player has no cards left, that player is the game winner.
